Design of the Symbols of the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine: Formation and Development

This article explores the design of the symbolism of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a tool for shaping military identity, supporting psychological resilience, and enhancing strategic communication. It examines the historical, cultural, and psychological dimensions of military insignia and emblems, analyzing how these visual elements contribute to the creation of elite military image and cohesion within units. The study also highlights the role of visual symbolism in countering hostile narratives and reinforcing national values during wartime. By decoding the visual language of SOF identity, the article contributes to the broader discourse on military branding and the communicative function of design in conditions of hybrid warfare.

The research is based on the analysis of official emblems, visual campaigns, and interviews with servicemen. It emphasizes the importance of symbolic design in maintaining morale and operational unity in the context of protracted armed conflict. The findings may be relevant for designers, military communicators, and scholars of strategic communications and visual culture.

Keywords: Military symbolism, design, identification, identity, emblem, motto, Special Operations Forces.
